Although they share many of the same similarities, travertine and marble are two completely different materials. The restoration processes are very similar, but travertine requires special attention due to its unique characteristics. Travertine has many holes that are filled at the factory prior to its installation and soft porous areas that tend to turn gray and trap dirt over time due to regular traffic and cleaning. The factory filled holes tend to fall out and new holes appear over time. We are able to fill these holes that open up over time and restore the grayed areas. It takes specialized chemicals and equipment to address the specific needs of travertine.

Travertine also comes in an unfilled version as well. The unfilled travertine is very effective at collecting dirt in the holes. The unfilled material can be cleaned with the proper equipment to a like new appearance. Also, the unfilled material can be filled to eliminate the holes and match a factory filled travertine.
